The FUMCC Youth Ministry exists to encourage all youth to become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Our ministry provides programs on Sunday morning and evening, during the week, as well as many trips, retreats, and events throughout the year. Passionate adult servants and committed parents give generously of their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to provide exemplary mentoring and supervision for our youth.
Special Youth Congregational Blast Message
When Carl announced in the staff meeting that Youth Ministry was handling the weekly email blast, Kim and I were like, “Whoo-hooo! We get to tell everyone what Patty, Mitzi, Kim and I have been able to do during our short partnership with the incredible servants of FUMCC”. After Kim worked out an outline of all that’s been accomplished, all that was in progress and the ministry opportunities that lie just around the corner…well, we were more than a touch overwhelmed with the thought of getting it on one page.
I mean, how would we compile everything in a neat, readable email message without it coming across like those letters sent at Christmas time that list every promotion the husband got, every award the son won, every scholarship the daughter received, and every…well, you get the picture.
The Youth Ministry team knew this year would be an undertaking that could be accomplished only with constant prayer, loving guidance from staff members, and the immeasurable dedication to the youth of God’s Kingdom by a ton of FUMCC servants.
Oh yeah, the youth…The youth, who plan the mission objectives for the year like Stop Hunger Now, Backpack Buddies, and Heifer Project.
The youth, who hunker down during a hot summer weekend and plan the calendar during the Youth Council retreat and then hold each other accountable to that calendar during monthly Youth Council meetings.
The youth, who fill nearly every seat in Big Group and then go upstairs and cause the Sunday school rooms to absolutely split at the seams.
Who pile into the Fellowship Hall for the best $2 meal in town and, well, fellowship during UMYF (sorry Carl, I know fellowship isn’t a verb).
The youth, who spend hours on their feet in Crown Coliseum praising God and receiving His Holy Spirit during Pilgrimage, a two-day North Carolina UMC Conference youth event in Fayetteville.
Who “occupy” Bond Park in Cary and play a football game with enough people to populate a town. And then inhale a fantastic Thanksgiving meal cooked by our MYF Kitchen Crew.
The youth, who sing like angels at the Moravian Love Feast while they serve us coffee and cookies and then take their talents on the road and sing Christmas Carols to our neighbors and “Insiders”.
Who spend 13 hours locked in FUMCC only to show up bright and early Sunday morning to lead their church in worship during Youth Sunday.
The youth, who sacrifice entire weekends to serve behind the scenes during Discovery Weekend, a spiritual formation event for our middle school students.
Who head to the Appalachian Mountains, Bolivia, and their schools to proclaim their faith in the risen Lord to the world.
The youth, who teach us to love, live, and serve as Jesus commanded.
Oh yeah, the youth.
Come join us this Sunday and be led in worship by the FUMCC Youth Ministry and you’ll see why we weren’t able to get it all on one page (sorry Lori).
Amen!
