Pastors
R. Carl Frazier previously served as the Superintendent for the Elizabeth City District of the United Methodist Church. His senior pastorates have included Saint Luke United Methodist Church – Sanford, Hay Street United Methodist Church – Fayetteville, and Saint Francis United Methodist Church – Cary. He has served as a Delegate to the General Conference and Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference of the United Methodist Church, and currently serves on the United Methodist Publishing House Board of Directors. He has also served as Chairperson for the Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry, President of the Conference Council on Finance and Administration, and on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. Rev. Frazier is originally from Wilson, North Carolina, and attended Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian) for his undergraduate studies. He then obtained his Master in Divinity from Duke University, and Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Carl and his wife Mary-Ellen have two daughters, Elizabeth age 26, and Ellen age 21. Mary-Ellen is employed as an elementary school teacher.
H. William Green has served as the associate pastor at FUMC since 1989. He serves as the preaching/pastor of the contemporary worship service, “Celebration!” William is from Durham, N.C., where he graduated from Jordan High School in 1970. He actually scored his first touchdown in high school playing against Cary H.S. in 1967, back when the population of Cary in 1970 was only 7,000!
William continued his football career at Catawba College where he graduated in 1974 (A.B.). During his senior year at Catawba, William was voted the “Most Inspirational Player of the Year.” He was “called” into the ministry during his last college football game.
A graduate of Duke Divinity School (1977, M.Div.) William also received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Emory University in 1993.
William is married to Polly Jo Green. William and Polly are both members of the Network of Biblical Storytellers and participate in our church’s storytelling ministry. His other passions for ministry include men’s ministry, small groups, and leading the Celebration service. William’s hobbies include guitar, jogging, and sports. He says that the best restaurant in town is at his house because his wife, Polly, is an expert on the grill!

Daniel F. Lipp is the Pastor to Shut-Ins at First United Methodist Church-Cary. He has a B.A. from Furman University in Greenville, SC and an M.R.E. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has been at FUMC since 1999. Rick Wilkerson is the Associate Pastor for Youth at First United Methodist Church-Cary. He has a B.A. in Sociology from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School in Durham, NC. He joined FUMC in 2002 and is responsible for the youth, college and confirmation activities. He was previously at Front St. UMC, Genesis UMC and Knightdale UMC, where he served for 15 years in youth and adult ministries, with a focus on disciple training and support. He is married to Kathy (owner/manager of Possibilities, a women's clothing store) and has two children, Brittany and Eli. She has a B.A. from UNC Greensboro, a Masters of Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She also has completed graduate theological studies at Wesley Seminary. Prior to coming to FUMCC in 2006, Alice served as pastor of a Hispanic/Latino congregation at Avent Ferry UMC in Raleigh. Prior to that, she was part of the organizing team for a new church start-up, Sunrise UMC in Holly Springs where she helped to establish opportunities for Christian education and spiritual formation. During that time she also developed a passion for ministry with the Latino community and began working with churches across the NC Conference to establish new Hispanic/Latino ministries. Alice volunteers with the Heart of Carolina Walk to Emmaus, a movement for spiritual formation and renewal. Currently, she also participates in the two-year Upper Room Academy for Spiritual Formation. She also enjoys teaching local pastors in the summer and weekend Course of Study at Duke Divinity School. Alice and her husband Bob have been residents of Cary since 1991 and have two grown children, Ben and Emily. “My life’s mission is to translate God’s love, especially to people who don’t know they are loved by God.
