Frequently Asked Questions about Giving at FUMC

We occasionally get a message that indicates there may be some confusion about the financial campaigns that we have asked our people to support at FUMC.  Today, we’re going to answer one of those questions:

Question:
“Do I now have to write 4 different checks to the church?  Over the years, I’ve signed commitment cards for the Building Fund, the Imagine Campaign, “2007—Will You Grow” and the “2008—Will You Continue to Grow” campaigns.”  I’m confused.

Answer:
“No. You don’t have to write 4 checks.  There is no longer a Building Fund and ‘Will You Grow’ ends on December 31, 2007.”

  1. The old Building Fund and Debt Payment Fund is now ONE FUND—the Imagine Campaign.  Since June 2007, all gifts for debt retirement are put in the Imagine Campaign.  The campaign started in June 2007 and will go for 3 years through May 2010.
  2. There is no other vehicle for debt retirement at FUMC other than Imagine Campaign.  Gifts designated to the Imagine Campaign cannot be used for any other purpose than paying off capital debt.  Gifts designated to the old Building Fund or for debt payment are deposited in the Imagine Campaign.  Since June extra principal payments of almost $170,000 have been made in addition to monthly payment of principal and interest.  Thank you for your faithfulness.
  3. Our current “Will You Continue to Grow” campaign is for the 2008 operating budget of FUMC.  This is the “meat and potatoes” of your mission and ministry in the name of Jesus Christ to the world.  All undesignated giving goes to the operating budget of FUMC.

We hope that you are a participant in the Imagine Campaign and the 2008 “Will You Continue to Grow” campaign of our church.
