One of the highlights of Alice's spiritual journey since she has been at FUMCC has been the two-year Upper Room Academy for Spiritual Formation in Baltimore, MD.
According to Alice, "My life’s mission is to translate God’s love, especially to people who don’t know they are loved by God. Serving at FUMCC gives me the incredible opportunity to help others connect with God and with people, as well as equipping folks for the natural extension of that: connecting through service.

Doug Jessee is Pastor Emeritus at FUMCC. Rev. Doug Jessee was born and reared as a Free Will Baptist in the lovely mountains of southwestern Virginia. After graduating from Tazewell High School he attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky and received a BA with majors in English and Philosophy. While there he saw the light and became a United Methodist. Following the call into ordained ministry he attended Duke Divinity School, receiving his M. Div in 1970. His first pastoral appointment was St. Andrews UMC in Garner. There he was fortunate to have among his members the most beautiful girl in the state, Beverly McCullock. They were married the following year (those were the days when it was okay, indeed expected, for a single pastor to find a spouse within his own congregation). In addition to St. Andrews, Doug's other appointments included Carthage UMC, the Outer Banks Parish, North Raleigh UMC, FUMC Cary, Hayes Barton UMC, The New Bern District, and FUMC Wilson. All of these were sweet moments, but the sweetest was the ten year stay in Cary. He and Bev are delighted to be retired in Cary and he is grateful for the honorary emeritus status. He enjoys reading and other educational activities and has not lost his interest in sports and politics. He presently serves on the Board for the Center for Volunteer Caregiving and helps lead the Faith and Freedom Sunday School class which he founded 21 years ago. And he is also now privileged to experience the deep joy of serving as a full time grandparent. Contact Doug Jessee by email at djessee@nccumc.org.
