FUMCC History - Where Were You?

Click to view an illustrated history of First United Methodist Church Cary

Where Were You? What did First United Methodist Church look like when you joined? What Ministries and Missions were happening that attracted you?

Was it the 50’s and 60’s Church of a smaller sanctuary, split choir loft, and youth ministry in the Catacombs?

Was it the 70’s with the courtyard between the Merritt Building and offices and the Fellowship Hall or Ellis/Bland Class, and Mission trips to Hickory Grove and Fairview in South Carolina?

Was it the 80’s with the organ consol in the center of the chancel, and the first move of the log cabin and the conversion of the telephone building to a Fellowship Building and paying partial support for a Missionary?

Or did you join in the 90’s when the Templeton Building was completed, along with another move of the log cabin, and we had a renovated and expanded sanctuary with a new pipe organ, and we were sending Mission Teams to Appalachian Service Project locations and Bosnia and Bolivia, and we had Stephen Ministry and Interfaith Hospitality?

Maybe you have just joined since 2000 and seen us add Mission Teams to Mississippi and Zimbabwe, and start the Celebration Service.

Whenever you joined, you became a part of a dynamic and exciting Ministry at FUMC. We are continuing that exciting Ministry as we now begin our Imagine Capital Campaign.
