People Dreams - What Do You Imagine?
Ralph Ashworth
"We were blessed with church leaders who preceded us with vision and foresight. It is our turn to IMAGINE the possibilities as we move into the future."
Jack Stone
"I have a vision that FUMCC when debt free will have at Ieast 20 members ministering to local needs within a two mile radius of the church and will spend an amount on local mission needs as it does on building maintenance needs."
Janet Harrison
"Free of debt, FUMCC would be free to expand our neighborhood after school program to include all elementary grades and have programs multiple days a week. We could touch the lives of many more children by sharing our love, time, and skills to help them experience the love of Christ and build a firm foundation for their teen years and adult life of the future."
Alice Kunka
"When FUMCC is debt-free, I can imagine a renewed sense of calling to serve our local community...creating ministries of outreach to our Hispanic/Latino neighbors; renewed enthusiasm for small groups and Bible Studies reaching out to those who are currently "pre-Christian" or unchurched; serving as a "teaching church" to other congregations, highlighting the ministries we do well at FUMCC. The possibilities are limited only by our imagination. Thankfully God's imagination is much greater than ours!"
Denny Eyberg
"Can you remember the first car you purchased and you made all those payments and you were coming up on only three payments left on the loan and how excited you IMAGINED you would be that the car would be yours "PAID IN FULL" You would owe no one for this car. Well, IMAGINE that excitement here at FUMCC when we retire our debt. We will have so much to show for it and we too will be free of any debt. IMAGINE no debt. Almighty Father - you have called us together as a community of faith here at FUMC. We thank you for all the gifts you have given us: our lives, our loved ones, all that we have and all that we are. May your Spirit give us the grace to recognize our gifts and the faith to use them in service to you. Amen."
William Green
"When we are free from debt and free to hear God’s call, we will be on the brink of our church’s greatest ministry. Imagine being able to “pull out the stops” and say that we are going to do whatever it takes to win people to Jesus Christ, nurture them in the faith, and then to send them out as “apostles” to change the world for Christ’s sake!
What would it mean to “pull out the stops” to reach persons for Jesus Christ? Our church could broadcast its services over TV and the radio. Our church could video tape its services and have people to hand out the tapes to their unchurched friends, with an invitation to come to a worship service. Our church could bring in a team of persons from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to lead a series of revival and renewal services at our church and also to help train our people how to share their faith. Our church could go out into the community and provide on site Vacation Bible School in neighborhoods where there are children and families not connected to a church. We could send all the children in Mighty Mondays to a United Methodist summer camp.
What would it mean for our church to “pull out the stops” to nurture people in the faith? It would mean having more campaigns like the “Journey to the Cross.” We could design and write our own curriculum for the seasons of Advent and Lent. We could provide training for small group leaders and grow our small group ministry to make it possible for every single member to be in small group.
What would it mean to “pull out the stops” and send members out as “apostles” to change the world for Christ’s sake? It would mean challenging every single small group in the church to adopt a mission in the community. It would mean providing the funds needed to send people out on mission trips all over the world (Bosnia, Zimbabwe, Appalachian Mountains, South America, etc.). We could invest in schools, orphanages, and churches across the world and “partner” with them."
Jeanette Bell, Stewardship Chairperson
"I can imagine so many possibilities when FUMCC is free of its present debt. I imagine we will be freer to be creative with the many Mission and Ministry possibilities presented to us in our community, our nation and our world. Free to contribute more support for the Bolivian Youth Mission team, Bolivian Medical team, ZOE Missions in Zimbabwe, Bosnian Youth Center Sponsorship, add to ASP work teams efforts to help the poor in Appalachia and have available funds for disaster relief teams as they journey down east or to other parts of our nation when disasters strike. Free to provide an emergency shelter in our community in case a natural disaster should strike in Cary, NC. We would be free to begin new endeavors that present themselves almost everyday of the year to go and make disciples." My imagination goes wild as I "imagine the possibilities."
I imagine the freedom to choose to add to our facility, if needed, to minister to our seniors through an adult day care facility...thus giving our adult care givers a break for a few hours a week. Free to provide better facilities for our Mighty Mondays Program....thus helping us to have the ability to show our love and support of those children and their families, more room for more small group studies...thus enabling our members to learn and grow in their Christian faith, and a special place for our WIHN groups to be housed with shower facilities, more adequate space for youth over-night week end retreats, such as Discovery and special sleep-ins.
I imagine that we will be free to be a church that will not be burdened by a $33,000 mortgage payment each month. I imagine that we will be enabled to dream and plan and pray for God's guidance as we walk into the future, positive and optimistic about the "possibilities" this great church affords us as we advance our Christian journey. We will be freer to listen as God responds to our prayers and follow His direction. Most of all, I imagine how exciting it will be to start from a debt free position and be a part of planning and growing in Mission and Ministry as a family of God. "
