2011 Health Ministries Survey Results Are In!! New Leader for Health Ministries Carolyn Corn, who has served Health Ministries for 4 1/2 years, welcomes Cathy Busby, our new leader for Health Ministries. Cathy has much experience in many facets of Health Care. We feel that the "Creation Health" model will help meet many of the needs expressed in the Health Care Survey conducted earlier this year. One way of keeping the plight of the mentally ill in front of the legislators would be by sending e-mails to the individual legislators. If you are interested in protecting the mentally ill, please write or e-mail to the legislators to keep mental health issues in the forefront. As the NC General Assembly considers how to spend the limited funds, the mentally ill need our protection. You can use the linked letters from Gerry Akland, President of NAMI, and Carolyn Corn, former psychiatric nurse, as samples to create your letter. Creation Health Recently, members of our committee participated in a series of classes on "Creation Health". This was recommended to us by Pastor William Green. We found that this was a very holistic way of approaching health. It is based on the 4 wheels of health: Physical, Relational, Emotional, and Spiritual. It is based upon the 8 principals of God's plan from Genesis: CREATION: Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust, Intimacy, Outlook and Nutrition
For those who are interested in teaching the Creation Health program, you may find the Instructor Book, CD's for 8 class series, Study Books and Small Group Participant books in the curriculum library. Individual books may be ordered from Creation Health.

Arty's story:
I was transplanted back in NY in 2003 with a liver that I had waited for just about 5 yrs with the shortage of donors. The organs go to the person that is the sickest at the time. Then when I finally was sick enough the doctors told my wife if I didn't receive a liver within a few days, I wasn't going to get one. I would be too sick to receive the liver and they told my wife I would only last maybe 2 weeks at the most. But with the Grace of God I received the greatest GIFT that any one could get on Mothers Day 5/11/03.
Then last year I went into rejection and was placed back on the waiting list for another liver and kidney as well. But putting my faith in God and the doctors I am doing much better at the present time.

Did you know we have two AEDs on site? These are Automated External Defibrillators, used to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). One is located in the Children’s Center on the wall by the MCC office (Templeton Building first floor near the side entrance) and the other is located on the wall between the Sanctuary and the front offices. The Health Ministries Committee meets the second Sunday of each month (first Sunday April 5, May 3) at 5:00PM in room 212. We welcome new faces and fresh ideas!! Please come help us brainstorm, develop, and implement!
