God's Plan for Us and First Steps -  some of our Journey to Discipleship workshops as part of our GPS offerings:

 

  • God's Plan for Us provides parents and their 5th/6th grade children with an opportunity to connect and communicate about the life issues which families must navigate in early adolescence. 
     
    Boys and girls will divide into same-sex groups for sessions devoted to teaching values-based decision making and practical skills for handling issues such as puberty and sexuality, peer relationships, peer pressure and communicating with adults.
     
    The parent component of this workshop is devoted to helping moms and dads update their parenting skills and to experience the joy for the teenage years.  The focus will be on helping parents develop practical parenting skills that will help parents lead their teens though the stuff that makes life tough and still maintain a positive and healthy relationship.
     
    Tammy Finch will be helping lead the workshop sessions.  Tammy is a licensed psychologist from SKILLSENSE, which is dedicated to teaching practical and common sense life skills to tweens, teens and their parents.  Tammy keenly understands the need for family support during the preteen and teen years.
     
    Families will also create a family covenant in which they will live into their daily life according to God’s will and plan for their family.  There will be a special presentation of that covenant in all services on Sunday March 18th for families that attend the workshop.
  
  • First Steps is our baptism workshop.  Join us as we discuss how to begin the first steps of your child's spiritual growth and foundation. Parents are invited to attend an hour long interactive workshop where we discuss how say a blessing to your child, prayers, and develop their spiritual future by thinking about family values and the elements of Methodist Baptism and Confirmation.To register for a workshop, please click the First Steps Workshop link below.

Wonderful Worship – TK/K: January 14th 4p, Thursday January 12th 5p
Servant’s heart – 1st & 2nd grade: January 21st 4p, January 19th 5p

With the weather unseasonably warm this fall, we are thinking of summer and getting excited! Please save the dates for these fun summer camps:

MCC camp will be June 18th-22nd, 2012.
 
Music and Arts camp will be at FUMCC this year! Watch for it the week of July 9th-13th.
 
VBS will be July 30th-Aug 3rd—our theme is Cokesbury's Operation Overboard DARE TO GO DEEP WITH GOD!  Registration will begin May 1st.
