Baskets of Hope

Baskets of Hope
The message of Easter is ultimately one of HOPE. And that message is what the Baskets of Hope offered to over 1,100 children this year! Through
loving contributions, generous servants, and a partnership with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, Easter baskets were assembled and
delivered to children all over Wake County as well as surrounding communities. Baskets were distributed to the following organizations:

Wake County CPS & Family Services: 665
Wake County Girls Y Boys Clubs: 118
Mighty Mondays After School Community Program: 49
Local Refugees & Families in Need: 35
    Loaves & Fishes: 76
Passage Home for recently released inmates &  their families: 50
Ronald McDonald House, Chapel Hill: 45
    Ronald McDonald House, Durham: 41
    Otis Hardy Street Ministry: 51

Each basket included an abundance of fun treats for each child. Baskets were filled with loving gifts from individuals. In addition, the following people and organizations provided generous donations for each basket:

  • McDonald’s free meal cards provided by Tom Haynie, FUMCC church member and McDonald’s owner
  • Chick-Fil-A free meal cards provided by Brier Creek Chick-Fil-A
  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss provided by Linda Moore, FUMCC church member and product manager at BCBSNC-Dental, Dr. Robert Elliott, DMD, Dr. David Polhemus, DDS, Dr. Robert Moran, DDS and Dr. Richard Brooks, DDS

Here are ideas for things to put in the baskets:

Books for all ages – Christian topics (i.e. Easter, God, Jesus) would be great.  Lifeway and the Family Christian Bookstore, both at Crossroads, usually have some great little books or activity books for Easter.

Anything that would be fun for kids of all ages (Newborn to 18)
