RiverFest FAQ
What is RiverFest?
RiverFest is a churchwide celebration, worship and fellowship opportunity for the entire FUMCC congregation, family and friends.
When is it?
Saturday, May 17th. The facility is open all day. Scheduled activities begin at 2pm.
Where is it?
White Oak Shelter at Lake Jordan
How do I get there?
It is very easy and takes about 15 – 20 depending on where you live. Directions: Take hwy 64 W towards Pittsboro. Go through the Wilsonville intersection. Go approximately 1/4 mile and turn right into “White Oak Shelter” (Look for the signs!)
Can I still participate in RiverFest if I wasn’t involved in the Lenten Study?
Yes! You are invited to participate in the RiverFest Celebration and bring family and friends or come by yourself and make new friends.
What is there to do?
The White Oak Shelter has a covered pavilion area where the worship service will be held with picnic tables, restrooms, volleyball nets and horse shoe pits. There is a boat ramp, and a beach area for swimming and a location for fishing (fishing license required). Starting at 2pm, there will be inflatables, games, crafts, clowns, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn and beverages. Starting at 5pm, Rev. Green will lead a worship service featuring the Methodaires and various choirs. Starting at 6pm, UMM and UMW will be serving a BBQ & Hot Dog dinner.
Can I go earlier to boat, swim, fish, etc.?
You are welcome to enjoy the facility all day. You may want to bring a picnic lunch/snacks as structured activities do not begin until 2pm
What is the cost?
$7 per person or $20 maximum per family and is all inclusive. Parking is free. Please be sure to prepay when you register. Because of state laws, no funds cannot be exchanged on park property.
What if I only want to participate in the activities and not eat or vice versa?
The cost is all inclusive for the activities, meal, or both.
Can I bring others?
Yes! We encourage you to invite others; however, please register them so we will have an idea of how many to prepare for.
How do I register and is there a deadline?
You may go online at www.fumc-cary.org and click on “Riverfest” to complete an “easyreg” form or you may stop by the church office to complete a paper form. Payments can also be dropped off in the slot located in the office lobby. The registration deadline is May 12th.
What if I need transportation?
There will be a van for older adults leaving the gravel lot at 2pm and again at 4pm and returning at 7pm. You must specify on your registration form that you need transportation. If you have questions, please call the church office at 467-1861.
