Administrative Board
Meets fourth Sunday every other month at 7:00 p.m. in room 200. The Administrative Board provides general oversight of the administration and programs of the church. It is the primary decision making, evaluating and forward looking body of the church.

Adult Sunday School Teachers
FUMCC needs lots of ministry partners to adequately foster a clear and maturing understanding of Christ and the inward/outward journey. Will you consider joining the team to facilitate classes at 9:45 and 11:15a.m. Sunday mornings?

Alpha Dinner Hosts
Wednesday evenings at the Church. You or your small group chose a Wednesday to host and serve a dinner to members in the Alpha Course. Contact Caren Helms.
Altar Guild
Sundays 8:25, 9:45, 11:11, 11:15a.m. Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall
The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary, chapel and adjoining areas for worship on Sunday morning and High Holy Days. Also coordinates with wedding directors. Contact Lorna Yonan.
Bible Study and Spiritual Formation Group Facilitators
Facilitators are needed to lead groups in using curriculum such as Disciple (both short term and long term), Companions in Christ, Nooma and other studies. Skills needed: Small group facilitation skills and strong interpersonal skills. Hours per week: a few hours of preparation plus facilitating the group. Training offered annually. Contact Alice Kunka.
Boy Scouts Leaders
Cub Scouts: Tuesdays 7:00p.m. Boy Scouts: Tuesdays 6:45p.m.
Fellowship Hall/Various.
Scouting programs for boys from grade 1 to age 21. Adult female and male volunteers are welcome to serve as leaders, advisors, mentors and helpers. Contact Gantt Edminston.
Building Committee
The Building Committee assists the church by managing building-related matters and planning future expansions of the FUMCC campus. Contact Bill Lawrence.
Children’s Church Leader
A worship readiness program for children in kindergarten-2nd grade. Meets every Sunday morning at 11:15am. Children begin worship with their parents and then leave the service with a volunteer for the children’s own worship service. Contact Elise Thrash.
Children’s Council
Meets second Sunday every other month at 7:00p.m. in Room 201. The Children’s Council plans and coordinates the entire children’s ministry programs at FUMCC. Contact Karen Schreiner.
Children’s Sunday School Teachers/Assistants
The Children’s Ministry needs lots of ministry partners to adequately foster a clear and maturing understanding of Christ and the Christian journey for our children. We need 130 volunteers each year who love children and the Bible. The hours per week varies but mostly on Sundays at 9:45a.m. and 11:15a.m. Training is offered in August of each year. Church Office Volunteer
Do you have extra time during the week? Do you have small children and can only work from home? Become a church office volunteer. The church office needs your help on a variety of tasks such as newsletter mailing, stuff bulletins, count attendance sheets, drive vans, photograph events, operate sound system, etc. Contact Debbie Andrews or Karen Chauvaux.
Church Repairs and Grounds Upkeep
Sign up for one Saturday each month to help mow the FUMCC lawn and do grounds work. Crews start at 8:00a.m. and usually take about an hour. Contact Rick Kibler.
Church-wide Celebration Coordinator
Plan and organize an annual Church-wide celebration to cultivate Christian fellowship, nurturing a sense of Christian community while delighting in the many blessings that abound. Contact Debbie Andrews.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee helps support the FUMCC communications ministry of the church. Tasks include publicizing ministries and events at the church and in the community. Brochures and pictorial collages are created and displayed. Newspaper articles are written to inform persons of ways to give and receive ministry through the church. Includes maintenance of the website and information center. Contact Sharon O’Donnell.
Communion Helpers
Communion helpers prepare the elements and assist pastors in serving in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall (See communion schedule). Skills needed: Willingness to serve. The ability to stand and serve. Number of volunteers needed: 8 each month. Hours per week: 1 per month. Training is offered. Contact Debbie Andrews.
Computer Committee
Supports computer needs of the church and staff. Contact Jim Hargrove.
Council on Ministries (COM)
Meets third Sunday at 7:30p.m. in room 216. The Council on Ministries provides for the planning and implementation of programs that nurture, reach out, witness, and develop leadership in the local church. The Council develops and coordinates goals and program proposals for the local church’s mission and promotes organizational learning in the congregation. The Council evaluates programs to ensure that they are fulfilling the church’s mission. The Council on Ministries provides leadership to the program committees and groups and is a resource to the pastors. Committee members should have a basic understanding of how various church committees function, a heart for serving and a willingness to accept a leadership role within the church. COM meets every third Sunday at 7:30p.m. in room 202. Contact Gary Churchill.
The Council on Ministries is composed of Chairpersons of the following work areas: Communications, Prayer Ministry, Stewardship Committee, Missions Committee, Worship Committee, Education Committee, Evangelism Committee, Diversity Ministry, UMW President, UMM President, Youth Representative, Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, Director of Music Ministry, Director of Children’s Ministry, Director of Youth Ministry and Director of Adult Ministry. Disaster Preparedness Committee
Provides guidance on policies, procedures and steps to respond to a disaster in Cary and Wake County. Also provides information for responding to disasters or emergencies outside the community. Contact Rick Kibler.
Diversity Committee
The role of the Diversity Committee is to lead the congregation in experiencing the racial and ethnic inclusiveness of The United Methodist Church recognizing and embracing our differences within the church and the community. Contact Jack Stone.
Education Committee
Articulates and interprets a shared vision for Christian education and determines processes, resources and opportunities for learning. The committee meets on the third Thursday at 7:00p.m. in room 201. Contact Becky Hobbs.
Evangelism Committee (Ambassadors)
The Church Ambassadors program is a group of church members who create a connection between FUMCC and the people who visit our church. We collect visitor information weekly and call or visit them to provide them with further information on the life of the church. There is no more important work of the church than reaching out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ. The primary task of the Evangelism Team is to reach out to people where they are and receive them as they are, relate them to God through Jesus Christ, nurture and equip them for Christian discipleship and send them out into the community to be the church in the family, the neighborhood and the community and the world.
We are always looking for vibrant members who are willing to share their FUMCC experiences with others and that have a desire to share the good new of Jesus Christ with others and biblical understanding. The Contagious Christian by Bill Hybels is recommended reading. A team of 5 to12 members is recommended. Diversity among members is encouraged. You don’t have to be an expert on the church to join us; you just have to be willing to be a friendly link to the community. Contact Caren Helms.
Family Ministries
The Family Ministry exists to provide opportunities for the diverse families in the congregation and community-wide to grow spiritually, emotionally and intellectually within the fellowship of our Christian community through learning and service. Contact Barbara Bloodworth.
Fellowship Corner Hosts
Sunday mornings 10:30 - 11:15a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. You or your small group chose a Sunday to prepare and serve coffee and snacks at the Fellowship Corner. Contact Karen Richmond.
Finance Committee
Meets 3rd Sunday at 6:30p.m. in Room 224. Nominated positions that oversee church finances. Contact Lisa Varani.
General Maintenance and Repair Work
General handymen (or women!) are needed to offer different possibilities which may include: plumbing, electrical, general repair, woodwork, yard maintenance and etc. Contact Marvin McCracken (call the church office).
Girl Scout Leader
The Girl Scouts are dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Our scouting programs are for girls ages kindergarten - 12th grade. Adult female and male volunteers are welcome to serve as leaders, advisors, mentors and helpers. Contact Wanda Schramm.
Greeters
Greeters are needed on Sundays at 8:25, 9:45, 11:11, 11:15 near the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. Greet persons as they enter the church. Help them find Sunday school classes and answer questions about location of classes and services. Hours per week: 20 minutes per service. One month per quarter. Unlimited number of volunteers needed. Hospitality Team
The Hospitality has several opportunities to serve in greeting and welcoming people to FUMCC. Contact Debbie Andrews.
- Coffee Klatch Barista and Host: 1 – 1 ½ hours on Sunday mornings. A four week commitment. Barista – Learn to make espresso coffee drinks for our class attendees. Klatch Host – Welcome class members and take latte orders.
- Information Table Volunteer: Sundays before each service. Each shift is approximately 15 minutes. In the Church Narthex. Serve as a resource for information on various church events.
- Wednesday Night Fellowship Feast Greeters: Wednesday Evenings 5:30 – 6:30p.m in the Fellowship Hall. Greet Newcomers to the Fellowship Dinner & show them “how it works.”
- Fellowship Corner Hosts: Sunday mornings 10:30 - 11:15a.m in the Fellowship Hall. You or your small group chose a Sunday to prepare and serve coffee and snacks at the Fellowship Corner.
Health Ministries Team
Meets fourth Wednesday at 7:00p.m. in the Philathea room. The Health Ministries Team is a group of people acting on faith, inspired by Christ’s witness to the healing activity of God. The team reaches out to strengthen, empower and improve the spiritual, physical, mental health of this congregation and the community we serve through increasing self-knowledge, personal responsibility and interdependence among God’s people. This ministry crosses the entire life span as well as the entire spectrum of health need. The team strives to foster a spiritual healing presence in the local and global community and to serve as a reminder that Christ came to give us abundant life. Contact Carolyn Corn.
Holiday Sanctuary Decoration Coordinator
Builds and oversees a team to ensure the sanctuary is prepared for Christmas and Easter worship services. Creating a special sphere for worship during the holidays is a ministry to the entire congregation. Instructions are provided. Approximately 10 volunteers are needed for Christmas (including men) and 5 are needed for Easter (including at least 1 man). Contact Melody Rudisill.
Information Center Volunteer
The Information Center volunteer supports the Hospitality team by manning Information Center located in the large narthex each Sunday before each service. Each shift is approximately 15 minutes. Serve as a resource for information on various church events. (See also Hospitality.) Contact Debbie Andrews.
Lay Leadership
The charge of the Lay Leadership committee, composed of elected, professing members of the church, is to identify, develop, deploy, evaluate, and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the congregation. Members of the committee engage in and are attentive to developing and enhancing their own Christian spiritual life in light of the mission of the Church. Contact Charlotte West.
Library Ministry
The Library Committee welcomes you to the church library located in Room 224. The library provides resources for the Christian education of the members of FUMC. The books and materials support the Sunday School Curriculum, study groups, and individual study and provide resources for teachers and leaders. Books have been organized and new books are added. The library is always open except when groups are scheduled to use it for meetings and a 9:45 Sunday School Class. The library operates on a self-checkout system and instructions are posted on the desk.

Long Range Planning Committee
Meets third Monday at 7:00p.m. in room 224. Assists the church leadership in assessing, coordinating and planning future activities that enable the vision of FUMCC. Contact Scott Andrews.
Memorial Gifts Committee
The Memorial Gifts Committee manages the list of financial donations, and property given to the church as memorials of others. Contact Sydna Martin.
Missions Committee
The Missions Committee supports missions through our local, global and conference programs. Meets first Sunday at 5:30p.m. in room 224. Contact Chip Cothran.
Music Ministry Leaders
Volunteer leaders are needed for Children’s choir, handbell choirs, helpers for youth choir and accompanist for choirs. Contact David Marlette, John Drymon or Patti Cook.
New Member Host
Befriend new members and help them find their place among us. Some Sunday mornings at the Church and home. Contact Debbie Andrews.
Newsletter Team
The Newsletter Team assembles and mails the church newsletter on Tuesday afternoons every other week in the Church workroom. Four volunteers are needed. Training is offered. Contact Alicia Frazee.
Nursery Caregiver
Sundays at 8:25, 9:45, 11:11, 11:15a.m. and also during special events. Nursery is provided at all worship services for children from infants - 24 months. Volunteers help out one Sunday every other month with a nursery during the worship services. Contact Christie Brown.
Older Adult Transportation
Sundays for 11:15a.m. service. This service was started in 2000 for those adults who are unable to drive themselves to church on Sunday mornings. We utilize a van to pick up before the 11:15a.m. worship service and deliver home after the service. Four drivers rotate each Sunday. Contact Kathy Lashley.
Prayer Ministry
We are a praying church. In addition to congregational prayers, there are many individuals whose main service is prayer. Intercessory prayer groups meet Tuesday mornings at 7:00a.m. at Cindy’s House Restaurant and Wednesday mornings at 9:00a.m. in the Prayer Chapel. These groups pray for the prayer concerns requested by our church community. Opportunities for persons to become involved in various prayer ministries, including: prayer groups, prayer chains and vigils, praying at home for ministries of FUMCC and participating in prayer workshops. We have a place for an unlimited number of volunteers who have a passion for prayer. Contact Linda Hodges or Polly Jenkins.
Safe Sanctuaries
The Safe Sanctuaries Review Committee is charged with the responsibility for approving procedures within the scope of our FUMCC’s Safe Sanctuaries policy with the purpose of addressing the safety of our children and youth at all FUMCC-sponsored events. Contact Alice Kunka.
Sanctuary Stewards
Sanctuary Stewards prepare the Sanctuary for Worship. They enhance the worship experience by removing previous bulletins from the pews and assess and organize pew materials. Contact Shirley Bartlett.
Single Adult Ministry (SAM)
The North Carolina Conference United Methodist Singles supports single adults through advocacy of single adult ministries, providing resources for the work of single adult ministries, and supporting single adults in ministry. Contact Debbie Andrews.
Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
Meets second Sundays at 6:30p.m. in the library. The SPRC is the church’s administrative unit in which lay and clergy spiritual leaders integrate the staff and congregational interests to focus on the mission of the church. SPRC is responsible for hiring, compensating, evaluating and supporting the pastoral and lay staff at the church. The SPRC provides a vital service to the church, as it is responsible for seeking, assisting and nurturing the right people to do God’s will for, in, and beyond our church. The SPRC members are elected to serve a three-year term. Meetings are held monthly. Contact Martha Glass.
Stephen Ministers
Meets Tuesdays at 7:00p.m. in Room 216. The Stephen Ministry at FUMCC is a comprehensive ministry of caring crucial to the health and growth of the congregation. The program offers a complete system of organizing, training and supervising lay people to play a unique and vital role in such a caring ministry. Stephen Ministers are available for consultations following each worship service. Training is offered monthly. Contact Ruth Conner or Susan Baker.
Stewardship Committee
Plans and manages annual commitment campaign and capital campaigns and provides church leaders with stewardship resources, training, and consultation. Contact Jeanette Bell.
Storytelling Ministry
The Storytelling Ministry at FUMCC exists: to help persons learn to tell biblical stories from the heart, to enrich the worship services, to foster Christian formation in the life of our church through the discipline of making personal connections with the biblical story. All ages are welcome! Children, youth and adults may participate. No experience required. Various workshops are held during the year to train beginners. Each year 15-18 persons are needed to do storytelling for our Christmas Lessons and Carols services and our Palm Sunday Cantata services. Contact William Green.
Technical Ministry
Meets third Sundays at 5:00p.m. in room 224. The Technical Ministry is a church-wide support ministry. Its primary goal is to support and enhance the other ministries and programs at FUMC-Cary through the use of technology. Volunteers with all skill levels are needed for sound and multimedia production. The ministry needs about 20 volunteers for approximately four hours per week. Basic and advanced training is offered. Tellers
Tellers are needed to count, record and confirm each Sunday’s Church and Sunday School offerings to the Church Financial Bookkeeper. It is important for this ministry to report the weekly offering count accurately and be able to keep FUMCC staff updated on FUMCC’s financial standing and to offer FUMCC members an accurate account of their giving. We need 10 people on Monday mornings from 9:15a.m. to 11:30a.m. (It is possible to participate on a rotation basis.) Volunteers need the ability to add, subtract and to solve minor inaccuracies in the counting process. Ability to use an adding machine. On-the-job training for a four week period is offered. Trustees
Meet third Tuesday at 7:00p.m. in room 224. The Trustees oversee the care of the buildings and church grounds. Contact Rick Kibler.
Ushers
Sundays at 8:25, 9:45 or 11:15a.m. in the Sanctuary. Ushers assist in providing seating and collection of offering for services three months per year. The church needs 8 ushers each Sunday (ushers serve 3 times per year on a monthly) for about 1 hour per week. Training is offered. Contact Debbie Andrews.
Vacation Bible School Teachers/Assistants
Vacation Bible School is held during the summer for children 3 years old to 5th grade. Adults and youth are encouraged to participate as leaders and helpers. Contact April DeCatsye .
Wedding Coordinator
The wedding coordinator provides support and assistance to help couples plan their weddings, ensuring that the ceremony and related events go as smoothly as possible, and that they stay within the appropriate guidelines established for the use of the church facility. Contact Melody Rudisill.
Wednesday Fellowship Feast Greeters
Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, September through early May. Greet Newcomers to the Fellowship Feast and offer hospitality. Contact Kathy Bearden.
Worship Committee
Meets third Sundays at 6:30p.m. in room 130. The Worship Committee oversees worship services through partnership with ministerial staff. Functioning committees include: Technical Ministry, Acolytes Leaders, Altar Guild, Celebration!, Communion Helpers, Greeters and Hospitality and Ushers. Contact Melody Rudisill.
Youth Council
Meets on second Sundays at 11:00a.m. in the Youth Room. The planning and implementing group of the five purposes of Youth Ministry; includes appointed age-level representatives, officers and youth counselors. Contact Karen Chauvaux.
Youth Leaders/Counselors
Lead small group discussions, chaperone youth events, and mentor a teen by becoming an MYF counselor MYF meets on Sunday evenings from 5:45-7:45. All you need is a loving heart, a listening ear and a passion for youth and youth ministry. 25+ volunteers are needed for about 2 hours each week. Training offered through an annual leadership retreat and quarterly training meetings.

Youth Sunday School Teachers
Contribute to the spiritual formation and Biblical knowledge of youth by becoming part of a teaching team in grades 7-12. All you need is a desire to encourage the spiritual growth of teens and the ability to prepare a lesson and lead a discussion. The church needs approximately 15 volunteers for about 2 hours each week on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45. Training is offered two times a year. Contact Kelley Stephens.
