We are pleased that you decided to be our guest at First United Methodist Church of Cary. I hope that you felt welcomed into our fellowship and that you experienced God as you worshiped with us. We believe that it is not by accident that we have the joy of meeting you. So, above all else we want to express Christ's love to you with genuine, heartfelt warmth. We're eager to know you, and we're excited to share with you the marvelous ways God is working in our church.
You have come to a church that has deep roots. John Wesley, the founder of the United Methodist Church, was an Anglican priest who lived in 18th Century England. He came from a strong Christian family. In 1738 at a prayer meeting in London, he had a powerful spiritual experience that inspired him to become the first teacher of "Methodism." In the words of John Wesley, "A Methodist is...one who loves the Lord his God with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his mind, and with all his strength."
John Wesley was a practical theologian, preacher and organizer. One of his contributions was to follow a pattern of small groups that had its origin with Jesus and the disciples and the early church. Ever since the first church in Jerusalem (with more than 3000 members), small groups have been God's design for ministering to individual's needs and growing individual disciples. Our desire to make disciples of Jesus Christ is best nurtured in groups of 5 to 15 people who meet regularly to pray, study God's word and encourage one another to maximize their Christian life. In a small group, your needs can be shared and cared for; your giftedness and ministry skills can be unleashed! So, please take the time to familiarize yourself with our small group ministry which includes Sunday School classes, Women's Circles, United Methodist Men, small group Bible studies, and many more.
Growing together, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we learn and we reach out to our world with life-transforming truth. We reach out to you, as well. Our doors are open. Our hearts are open, too. If you've been thinking, praying, searching and hoping for a place to belong, we say again - WELCOME!
